The National Association of Black Law Enforcement Officers will present a three-day training session entitled Race and Justice: Finding Fair and Impartial Policing at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 66 Hale Ave., White Plains, NY, September 30-October 2, 2020. This training will involve the acquisition of effective communication and active listening skills, as well as other community-policing related techniques, designed to enhance and improve the relationships between community members and their law enforcement guardians.

Participants will receive instruction through both lectures and panel discussions designed to be of interest to both law enforcement personnel and their community partners. Featured workshops will cover such issues as “Eliminating Microaggressions and Implicit Bias To Enhance Police-Community Engagement; An Anatomy of A Fatal Use of Force; Social Media and Law Enforcement; Weaponizing the Police-Profiling by Proxy”, and other topics designed to provide law enforcement officers with greater tools, knowledge and skills for interacting with people, particularly in communities of color. Conference attendance enhances professional and personal development, provides tools and skills which cannot be taught in-house or online, allows for feedback on your work from people who have never seen it before and may provide new insight, and helps to expand your knowledge and find new solutions to problems. All workshop sessions begin at 8:00 AM each day of the conference. A special program on Mental Health First Aid, with certification, will also be presented.

Registration for this program is at the rate of $250.00, per person, until September 19, 2020, and is open to all members of law enforcement, community groups, businesses, organizations and institutions. Registration fees cover the costs of program materials, a continental breakfast, lunch and certificate of attendance. This program is only available to the first 100 registrants. The Mental Health First Aid Certification workshop is an additional $40.00 per person, with registrations limited to the first 32 registrants.
