The National Association of Black Law Enforcement Officers, Inc will present a panel discussion entitled “RACE & JUSTICE: RE-IMAGING THE CULTURE OF POLICING” Sunday, December 13, 2020 beginning at 6:00 PM EST.

Even before George Floyd was killed by a Minneapolis police officer, many Americans, and particularly those in communities of color, have called for a dramatic rethinking of policing in this country. And there have indeed been some incremental changes over the years. Body cameras are now common. Many police use their firearms far less often than they did even 10 years ago. But the tens of thousands of people protesting in the streets and the family members of those killed or unjustly arrested say it's just too slow. Black and brown people are still being killed, harassed and abused by the police.

Presented as a panel discussion, we consider what would a transformation of policing look like? What cultural changes would be necessary for this transformation to be successful? What has been tried that actually works and what hasn’t? And what part or role should Black law enforcement officers have in this undertaking?

Panelists for this exciting conversation will include: Sgt. Shawn Kennedy (Ret.), Chicago, IL Police; Capt. Sonia Pruitt (Ret.), The Black Police Experience; Off. Nakia Jones (Former), Warrensville Heights, OH Police; Inv. Elliott T. Boyce, Guardians Association of the NYS Troopers; and Dr. Matthew Fogg (Ret.), US Marshals Service.

Registration for this program is at no cost, and can be completed online at http://conference.nableo.org/online_workshop.cfm?programid=1. Only the first 90 registrants will be accepted.
