Descriptive Tasks/Responsibilities for Position

The Town of Enfield is located in north central Connecticut on the border with Massachusetts. The population is approximately 46,000. The Enfield Police Department is a nationally and state accredited agency. There are approximately 99 sworn officers within the department. Divisions include Patrol, Detective, & Traffic. These divisions are further broken down to provide opportunities for officers to work in positions such as Community Police, School Resource Officer, K9 Unit, Field Training Officer, Motorcycle Officer, & Strategic Team Enforcement Policing. We also participate in the regional Metro Traffic Services traffic enforcement unit, and the Capitol Region Emergency Services Team.

Uniformed officers work eight hour days with five days on followed by three days off. The following week consists of five on and two off. Officers bid by seniority for one of six shifts per day. Certified officers advance one pay step for each year of certification up to top step (7 years). The Enfield Police Department also offers educational incentive pay, defined Benefit retirement plan, plus Deferred Retirement Option Plan (DROP). Salary: $63,606 to $77,480.
