Provide expertise and guidance in the development of all safety and security standards for the campus; coordinate with departments to develop plans to incorporate the established standards into the buildings and other unique spaces; works closely with university personnel and contractors to ensure successful start-up processes for all new installations; develop, maintain and distribute response procedures for 24 hour emergency contacts for all alarm systems, alarm/device locations lists, network port charts, and security systems door schedules, and programming data; perform traditional duties associated with management such as leading, motivating, directing, scheduling and evaluating staff; ensure all licenses, warranties and other recurring issues are kept up-to-date for all electronic access and CCTV applications coordinated between police investigation personnel and the Office of Technology Service (OTS) to ensure that CCTV system parameters and that collection is maintained at designated levels; prepare annual budget proposals to adequately support operational needs and new projects; provide 24 hour informational (emergency/non-emergency) support to members of the police department and university community with regard to system recovery; and manage the daily operation of the Lock Shop. Determine work priorities, plan schedules and evaluates the performance of subordinates, initiate disciplinary actions as necessary.
Three years of related experience including knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of electronic security systems
Strong supervisory skills including the ability to lead and manage a diverse workforce
Ability to demonstrate knowledge of computer equipment, software, and applications in a security environment
Knowledge of Quality Assurance Practices
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to teach, train and test others in these skills
Ability to inspect and evaluate electronic systems
Knowledge of contraction planning, defining tasks, time management, task analysis, and identifying available resources
Ability to understand and maintain complex electronic access systems; must have mechanical and mathematical aptitude
Ability to manage multiple projects within the scope of reasonability and deliver needed results in a timely manner.
Candidate must possess and maintain a valid Maryland non-commercial Class C or equivalent driver's license with no more than 5 points.
Ability to lift 50 pounds, walk about campus, climb ladders, walk up steep grades, work in a standing or kneeling position for prolonged periods, work on detailed oriented physical tasks in close quarters.
This position is may require occasional weekend, holiday, evening or midnight shift hours.
Experience in the set-up, maintenance and administration of security, access control and CCTV systems
Bachelor's degree in related field
Previous experience in operations of electronic security systems and locking hardware, programming alarm systems and troubleshooting of security access systems and project management a plus.
A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
